AppOptics

Business Overview

AppOptics is one of many products offered by SolarWinds, a global IT company. It combined legacy features from acquired SaaS products into a new concept, that offered an all-in-one application and infrastructure monitoring platform for cloud-based software development teams.

My Role & Contributions

I was one of 5 contributing designers, all reporting to the Head of Design. We worked together to not only establish a new look and feel for AppOptics, as it was being developed, but also to define solid processes and rituals for planning, reviewing and delivering high quality design artifacts. From discovery docs and wireframes to high-fidelity prototypes and guidelines for engineers, our work was very process-driven and feature focused. I worked on a mix of UX and UI leaning projects, deepening my interaction design craft, while applying my visual design skills to add a level of polish and friendliness to the otherwise dull, info-packed views.
